Graphic Design Intern

Foodseum is Chicago’s first nonprofit food museum. That’s right, a physical space completely dedicated to helping you discover your passion for food. Through interactive exhibits, educational seminars, unique content, events and programming, Foodseum provides a window into the history, people, farm-to-fork transformations, preparations, international flavors and more behind the food we all enjoy.

Foodseum is searching for an outgoing and energetic self-starter with a passion for food, culture and education. The Graphic Design Intern will report to both the Director of Marketing and the Director of Graphic Design, and will be responsible for the creation of online and physical marketing and advertising materials. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing designs and design elements to be used in Foodseum's marketing and PR strategy along with various individual campaigns, including but not limited to banners, posters, handouts, social media posts and online advertisements

  • Aiding in the management of Foodseum's brand standards for print and web media

  • Creating design guidelines for affiliate and partner usage of Foodseum branded artwork and materials

  • Assistance with the creation of internal standards materials including: newsletter, .ppt presentations, one-pagers and solicitation materials 

  • Maintaining the graphic library of images and fonts

  • Other responsibilities as determined 

The Graphic Design Intern will be an integral part of the Foodseum team, and will be a key component to the successful launch of Chicago's first nonprofit food museum. This is an excellent opportunity to work with an innovative high-profile, high-growth nonprofit looking to make a significant impact on Chicago's future.

Qualifications: 

  • Excitement for telling a story through a visual medium

  • Solid understanding of Adobe Design Suite

  • Basic proficiency in web design processes

  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to adapt and excel in a rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to receive and apply constructive feedback with a positive attitude

  • Open mind and desire to learn and work closely with a multi-faceted team

  • Enjoyment in keeping up with the latest trends in the food industry and culinary arena

  • Enthusiasm for trying new things and learning new skills

  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively

Commitment

This position is 10 hr / week commitment starting Sept 1, 2016. This position is unpaid, class credit is available upon request.
