Programming and Events Coordinator

Foodseum is Chicago’s first nonprofit food museum. That’s right, a physical space completely dedicated to helping you discover your passion for food. Through interactive exhibits, educational seminars, unique content, events and programming, Foodseum provides a window into the history, people, farm-to-fork transformations, preparations, international flavors and more behind the food we all enjoy.

We’re looking for an outgoing and energetic self-starter with a passion for food, culture and education. The Programming and Events Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Foodseum Programming and Events committee. They will be responsible for: 

  • Executing innovative events that promote Foodseum and engage Chicago's great food fans

  • Coordinating with partner vendors to successfully execute events

  • Working with existing festivals and events to manage Foodseum's presence

  • Pitching event opportunities to the Foodseum team with a well-researched plan weighing event costs vs potential benefits

  • Assisting in the design of Foodseum’s presence for each event based on available resources

  • Breaking down specific event responsibilities and managing Foodseum team members and volunteers

  • Coordinating each step of the event’s execution, from setup to cleanup

The Programming and Events Coordinator will be an integral part of the Foodseum team, and will be a key component to reaching Foodseum’s rapidly growing crowd of Chicago food fans.           Qualifications: 

  • Creativity and forethought for planning out unique events on a limited budget
  • Ability to adapt and excel in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Willingness to reach out to and coordinate small businesses, well-known chefs and food influencers
  • Open mind and desire to learn and work closely with a multi-faceted team
  • Enjoyment in keeping up with the latest trends in the food industry and culinary arena
  • Enthusiasm for trying new things and learning new skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Solid understanding of Google Drive, Dropbox, Volunteerspot

This is an on-going part-time volunteer commitment
